Mr. H Presents... The Make Music Happen Conference

The Make Music Happen Conference is a day-long event designed to give young musicians a chance to workshop their songs with some of our provinces finest songwriters: Aley Waterman, Ian Foster, Jerry Stamp, Meg Warren (of Repartee), and Sherman Downey.

CONFERENCE (9am-4pm): Students in grades 7 to 12 can sign up now for a day full of workshops and networking sessions capped off with a student showcase. There will also be short sessions dealing with live show production (Max Simms), the business side of music (Nick Hamlyn), and the role of digital media in music (Tom Cochrane, of CornerBrooker.com).  Space is limited, so it is essential to register in advance; the registration cost ($40) includes a ticket to the evening concert.

CONCERT (7-10): This songwriters circle concert is open to the public and will feature Aley, Ian, Jerry, Meg, and Sherman.  A line-up like this is rarely seen on the west coast, so you do NOT want to miss it. Tickets are $10 and will be available at both Brewed Awakening locations soon.

Please tell all of your friends. A bunch of times.
Thanks.

This month, I'm taking the show back to Elwood High, in Deer Lake.

Headlining the show is Adam Baxter, one of the first artists ever to play one of my Live@Lunch shows (*to see one for yourself, get me teaching at your school), back in 2011.  He is nine kinds of great, see for yourself in the video he just recorded with HeavyWeather.cahttp://vimeo.com/63294302

Also performing for this show are some of the area's finest:

  • Caitlyn Simms
  • Chris Osmond
  • Danny Staples
  • Emma Peckford
  • Jared Simmonds
  • an as-of-yet unnamed band featuring Marisa O'Brien, Nick Evans, and Spencer Barr.
Admission is a minimum donation of $4 and proceeds are going to World Vision Canada.  All are welcome to attend, so spread the word.

Finally, a hometown show!

Working with my friend, Dylan Walsh, I will be hosting a very special “Open Stage for the Underage" as a part of Pasadena’s Winter Carnival.  The event will take place at Lillian’s Eats & Drinks on Tuesday, February 19th.

Running from 7-9pm, the show will feature artists like Chris Osmond, Sydney Park (DL), Emma Peckford (CB), and Millie Mae Marshall (PAS); hometown minstrels, The Stringpoppers, will close out the evening with a headlining set.
